Video Game Outline:
The Sly Cooper series is a video game as a medium, so it lends itself well to the prospect of another video game. More specifically, the Sly Cooper series has always been a series of platformer games, set in a colorful, cartoonish universe. Therefore, for the sake of continuity, another Sly Cooper video game would follow the same genre. However, to give it further depth and detail, there might be some additional elements that can be added. Such elements could easily include:
Additional Elements:
Romance Sub-Quest:
The tumultuous relationship between Sly Cooper and Carmelita Fox has always been a key part of the story behind the series. For those who've really wanted to expand upon it, however, it's sadly been kept to the background, and the player's never had a chance to develop it themselves if they wanted to. This time, there could be an optional sub-quest to undertake--a combination of dialog trees in the Safe House and in-world missions, all with the objective of helping Sly and Carmelita work through their differences and finally find a way to make their complicated relationship work. As with any optional quest, it wouldn't be necessary to advance the main story...but it would add a special post-credits scene as a reward for those who took the time to carry it out. In this way, it would resemble the romance sub-plots from the Mass Effect series.
An Unlockable Secret World/Boss:
In video games of the 1990s and early 2000s, there was an additional reason to gather all the collectibles in the various levels: doing so would unlock hidden secrets, ranging from special endings to extra worlds and hidden bosses, often requiring that the player bring their A-game in order to overcome. While the Sly Cooper series has indeed dabbled in offering special rewards for those who find all the hidden collectibles (particularly in The Thievious Raccoonus and Thieves in Time), this would take it a step farther--by taking part in a series of special "challenge missions" for each world, they player would receive a series of special treasures set apart from the ones found in the overworld--gem-encrusted owl figurines. Finding them all would unlock a special mission after the finale, allowing the player to confront a particularly dangerous foe for the chance to earn a special ending, and/or unlockable cheat features.
Downloadable Content / Expansions:
DLC expansions can add a lot of lifespan to a game that's been released for some time. Consider games like Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect 2, which have continued to receive popularity long after their initial release thanks to new DLC that adds extra content to the game. These expansion packs add further depths to the universe of the game, and can offer everything from cosmetic additions (new player outfits) to new adventures and stories that offer further challenges and entertainment for those who played through the game. This could be applied to the next Sly Cooper game to add additional challenges and rewards for players who've beaten the game, and are eager for more.
Similar stages, different play styles:
In previous Sly Cooper games, the levels were restricted to different characters, tailored exclusively to their individual playing styles. This game, however, would take a page from Sonic 3 & Knuckles -- the player could choose any character for many of the levels (excluding a few certain story missions and boss fights), and each of them would be able to access different paths through the level in their own way:
Sly Cooper's gameplay would be a combination of stealth and combat--slick, graceful acrobatics combined with stealth options, giving Sly plenty of options and upgrades for interacting and navigating the environment (wall-climbing, zip-lining, a grappling-hook, his paraglider, etc.). While an emphasis would be put on being able to take enemies by surprise, Sly would still have access to a few combo attacks for straight-on combat. In addition, he would gain a series of costumes that give him additional options for navigation and combat--an Egyptian mummy-priest outfit, for example, would let him absorb and repel energy attacks. Finally, Sly can gain a variety of tools to confound his foes--smoke bombs, holographic decoys, and more.
Bentley, being confined to a wheelchair, wouldn't be able to pull off the same feats of agility as Sly, nor would he be as hardy as Sly in combat. However, the high-tech upgrades to his wheelchair would give him several options of his own--booster jets would let him reach high places that the others can't get to; his hacking abilities would let him open special doors or turn the local security systems to his advantage; and his tranquilizer dart gun would let him snipe enemies at a distance while his lobbed explosives can blast open doors. However, the fire rate on the dart gun and bombs is slow, requiring a degree of strategy when playing as Bentley.
Murray's massive size and girth limit his platforming ability considerably--he can't slip through the narrow spaces or make the steep climbs that Sly can, and thus can't find a lot of hidden secrets or alternate paths. He is, however, a physical powerhouse--he can take the most damage, and deal it out in kind with hefty punches. He can also lift heavy objects for hurling at foes, or moving obstacles that Bentley's bombs can't dispose of. He can just smash through locked doors where Sly would have to look for a key or try to pick the lock. And for vast groups of tough enemies, he's got the most options for taking them out.
Carmelita Fox is an interesting hybrid character--her leaping ability and grace are similar to Sly's, but she lacks his more advanced abilities (lock-picking, spire-jumping, etc.) However, she makes up for this with her trusty Shock Pistol, a blaster that can take down even the toughest enemies in a few shots (she needs to reload after every six rounds, however). The high-voltage gun can also be used to charge up electrical machinery, or disable the defenses of exceptionally-tough foes. Finally, if any foes get too close before Carmelita can reload, she can defend herself in a pinch with powerful kicks.
Game Overview:
Prologue:
Overview:
The story begins in Egypt, with Sly sitting in the main living area of soon turns out to be his safe house in this in this ancient kingdom. Stranded there after the events of Thieves in Time, he’s been tracking down his Egyptian ancestor so he can leave a message behind in the Thievious Raccoonus, allowing his friends to come and get him.
However, it’ll be clear right away that something’s wrong—the sound of angry voices shouting can be heard from outside, and the door (barricaded by a few chairs) is shaking and trembling as if being pounded up by a heavy battering ram. Doing his best to ignore it, Sly finishes writing on a handful of papyrus sheets, then tucks them away into a hidden alcove. Just as the door begins to crack and splinter, the master thief dashes upstairs and vaults out a window, making his escape!
Outside, Sly tries to make a break for it, running across the rooftops of the desert city at night. However, it rapidly becomes apparent that whoever set the city guard on him wasn’t messing around—there’s far too many of them to fight, and they’re proving impossible to shake completely. Though Sly tries every trick in the book (giving the player) a tutorial of his playing style in the process), it’s to no avail—one by one, his means of escape are cut off, until he finally takes an arrow in the thigh and crashes into a dark alleyway. Cornered by the guards at last, Sly braces himself for the worst…
…Except at that very moment, a series of smoke bombs come falling from above, blinding the guards! From there, it becomes clear that Sly’s friends have found him—the Cooper Van roars up, and Bentley’s RC chopper continues its bombing run. Murray leaps out to help Sly fight off the guards; and finally, in a big reveal, Carmelita gets out and delivers a few choice rounds from her Shock Pistol to drop the remaining soldiers. The group piles into the van and makes their escape, and the main plot begins…

World 5 - WWI Germany:
Overview:
In a unexpected twist, Penelope has been revealed to be the victim of an insidious form of manipulation—a mind-control device hidden beneath her hair ribbon, twisting her personality without her ever realizing it. Further compounding the shock is the identity of those who’s been manipulating her this whole time—Cyrille Le Paradox??
Somehow, the arrogant art collector turned time-travelling thief and adversary to Sly Cooper has escaped from jail, and has become hell-bent on reclaiming his empire in Europe—this time, rather than forge documents to pass himself off as a royal monarch, he intends to build a massive “time warship” and conquer the world with weaponry centuries ahead of its time!
But how did Le Paradox escape from prison in the first place? Has he had another ally all this time; a shadowy figure who’s been aiding him in his egomaniacal ambitions? And if so, what is THEIR motive in all of this? For the answers, the Cooper Gang finds themselves drawn to WWI-era Germany, where Sly meets his most technically-minded ancestor, and Le Paradox conspires with a mysterious third party to lay a cunning trap for their mutual foes…
Ancestor: Otto Von Cooper (modified plane and gadget-wrench cane; not the most physically-adept of the Cooper line)
Treasures: Secret Blueprints, Onyx Owl Figurine, Templar Signet Ring, Experimental Death Ray, Antique Treasure Key
Costume: Commando Uniform (Sniper rifle; gas mask that prevents health loss in hazardous areas)

World 7 - The Time Vortex:
Overview:
Sly has managed to recover from his wounds, but his temporal instability is growing worse. Though Bentley has managed to stabilize his condition by flying him into the Time Vortex itself, he and Penelope have not yet completed the process that should (theoretically) restore Sly completely. But the worst is yet to come…Clockwerk knows where they are. Commanding his own time machine—heavily-armed enough to qualify as a warship—the robotic owl has begun to pursue the Cooper Gang throughout time, intending to finish what he started.
Recognizing the full extent of Clockwerk’s threat—that neither the past, present, or future of the Cooper lineage is safe so long as the malevolent bird has access to time travel—Sly is determined to take the fight to his family’s arch-nemesis. For his family name. For his friends. And for Carmelita.
One way or another, this whole temporal mess ends, once and for all…
Ancestor: Varied (as Clockwerk’s time machine is pursued through different time periods, the previously-encountered Cooper ancestors will get a chance to aid in the fight against their eternal arch-enemy).
Treasures: N/A (The final episode will be one extended “mission” on Clockwerk’s time warship)
Costume: Elite Battlesuit (Customized cane; improved attack ability; able to perform the special abilities of his ancestors. Sly will have to wear this costume to be able to harm Clockwerk in the final battle)

- Episode Boss: Clockwerk 2.0 (robotic humanoid owl, arch-nemesis of the Cooper line)
Evaluation Criteria:
To determine whether or not this venture is successful, we'll be looking out for a certain number of criteria and trends. These include:
- The number of game copies sold.
- The number of strategy guides sold.
- The number of people who pre-ordered the game for special bonus content and items.
